Targa Florio 2027 Race Entry Packages - Arrive & Race!
Where: Palermo / Sicily, Italy
When: 4-11 October 2027

The best view of the Targa Florio has always been through the windscreen, climbing out of the Sicilian villages into the Madonie mountains with the sea behind you. For a week in October, that view is yours. The Circuito delle Madonie was no ordinary race track. A single lap ran through hundreds of bends on narrow mountain roads and through villages where the crowd stood at the roadside, and it was measured in hours rather than minutes. For decades the Targa Florio was a round of the World Sportscar Championship, and the manufacturers came to Sicily to prove their cars. Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari all won here. Porsche won it more often than anyone, which is how the Porsche Targa got its name. The race ran as a championship round until 1973. Today it lives on as a regularity event for classic cars, run on the original roads and starting and finishing in Palermo.
Join us from Monday 4th to Monday 11th October 2027* (*dates TBC) for our VIP hosted tour to the Targa Florio. Seven nights in Palermo and two full days of competition on the roads of one of the oldest motor races in the world. Your race entry, a classic car from our fleet, fuel, event insurance, our 4* hotel in the heart of historic Palermo and every dinner are all taken care of. Arrange your flights, arrive, meet your car and race! We handle the entry and the paperwork, and our team is with you all the way round, from scrutineering and the start ramp to the chequered flag and the prize giving.
The Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio are the world’s two greatest road races, and the Targa is the older, the tougher and the wilder of the pair. Where the Mille Miglia crosses half of Italy, the Targa Florio stays in the mountains, lap after lap, on roads that never straighten out. It is a race for drivers and navigators, not spectators, and that is exactly why you should be in it!
The Roads You’ll Drive: In 1973 the world’s fastest sports cars raced these same Sicilian roads, through the mountain villages and along the coast, with the crowds just feet from the kerb. Watch the film below to see what the Targa Florio was all about. Next October, it’s your turn!
Day One – Monday 4th October
Welcome to Palermo. On arrival we transfer you to Palazzo Cartari, our 4* boutique hotel in the heart of the old city, and for the week of the Targa Florio the whole hotel is ours. With just 20 rooms, its own restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide and a spa for aching shoulders after two days at the wheel, it’s the perfect base for the week. The bar, the breakfast room and the conversation will all be about the cars. Settle in and take your first stroll through the markets and palazzi of historic Palermo, just a few minutes’ walk from the door, before we all meet for our welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Palazzo Cartari: our home in the heart of old Palermo

Your Car for the Targa
Your car comes from our classic fleet, prepared, supplied and looked after by our partner, whose two support crews and mechanics are with us all week. The 2027 line-up is a Jaguar E-Type Coupé, a Jaguar E-Type Convertible, a Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupé, a Ferrari 308 GTS, two Porsche 911 Targas, an Aston Martin DB6, a Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda (automatic), 1965 MGB and an MGA. Each car has its own package below. Cars built up to 1977 are classified in the Classica class, and later cars, such as the Ferrari, in the Legend class.
Every crew drives exactly the same route, in the same format, on the same days, and the price is the same whichever way you enter. The only difference is whether your times count. As a competitor, your times are recorded and you appear in the official results; the driver needs a temporary competition licence from the ACI, the Italian motor sport authority, which we arrange for you, plus a short medical declaration and an ECG from your GP. As a guest, you drive the full event alongside the competitors, but untimed and at your own pace, and all you need is your driving licence and an International Driving Permit.
Nine classics on the start line. Which one has your name on it?

Day Two – Tuesday 5th October
A relaxed day to find your feet and meet the support crew. We take you down to the Palermo Yachting Marina, your base for the week, so you can see where everything happens and how the week works. The rest of the day is yours to explore Palermo, from the Norman palaces and baroque churches to the street food of the old markets, or simply to sit in a piazza with a coffee and watch the city go by. In the evening we meet for dinner at a local restaurant.
Tuesday at the Marina: your first look at the fleet

Day Three – Wednesday 6th October
Practice morning. You meet your car and take it out on a section of the route to get the feel of the gearbox and the brakes, and to get to grips with the roadbook and the tulip notes. They look baffling for the first couple of junctions, but after twenty minutes you will have the hang of it, and the organisers sign almost every junction in any case. In the afternoon the cars are back at the Marina for scrutineering and check-in, where the organisers look them over and approve them for the event.
Heading out for practice: the week starts here

Day Four – Thursday 7th October
Registration completes in the morning and, as the light goes, the event gets under way with the ceremonial start. It is a short drive into the centre of Palermo, one by one over the start ramp in front of the crowds, and back to the Marina for the organisers' welcome dinner alongside the other crews. Lots of waving and smiling required.
The ceremonial start: Palermo turns out on Thursday night

Over the ramp and into the spotlight

Day Five – Friday 8th October
The Targa Florio begins. You set off from the Marina on the first of two days of regularity trials, around 300km on the original routes. Regularity is about precision rather than outright pace: the roadbook sets your route and your target average speeds, and the aim is to arrive at each checkpoint as close to your time as you can. The route is signed at the junctions and the tulip notes tell you what comes next, so you are never guessing. The days are long but not demanding, and you are free to stop for coffee, fuel or the view whenever you like. There is an official lunch stop, and our support vehicle follows the route with tracking, so we are never far behind you. In the evening, over dinner at a local restaurant, the whole group swaps stories from the road.
The best seat at the Targa Florio has always been the driver's

Time control, Sicilian style: the mayor greets every crew personally

Day Six – Saturday 9th October
The second day of competition takes you deeper into the mountains and back towards the coast, on roads the great names drove when this was a world championship race. By now you and your co-driver will have found your rhythm, and this is the day most crews remember. You finish back at the Marina with the car hot, the roadbook well thumbed and the whole route behind you. We celebrate with dinner at a local restaurant.
Two days, 600km and not a grandstand in sight

The Greek temples of western Sicily: the route runs past 2,500 years of history

Day Seven – Sunday 10th October
The week finishes with an optional 90km finale through the hill towns, a lovely way to wind down and do some more waving, before the prize-giving lunch, where the results are read out and the trophies handed over. The afternoon is yours to explore Palermo, before our farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Through the streets of Monreale: the crowds turn out to the very end

Day Eight – Monday 11th October
And so it ends, though not really. A week ago you landed in Palermo with a roadbook you couldn’t read. You leave having driven the roads of the oldest motor race in the world, through the Madonie mountains, along the Sicilian coast and over the start ramp in front of the crowds, in a car you’ll be talking about for years. We transfer you back to Palermo airport in good time for your flight, or, if you’d like to make more of the trip, we can arrange extra nights so you can stay on in Sicily. Either way, you take home a story that will last a lifetime.
Arrivederci, and see you on the start line next year!
Customer Reviews
Hi Matt. I think the enormity of what J and I achieved is just starting to sink in. Did we really compete in a globally recognised classic car rally, in a 50ish year old car without modern driving aids, in a different country with very different rules of the road, using a road book & tulip notes for the first time, completing 4 gruelling stages with check points, average speed tests, time control zones and power sectors. And achieving 1st place in a class and 2nd in a group amongst a heavily weighted local Italian field of experienced competitors. WOW! Thanks for what was ultimately a very challenging but very rewarding experience. Bucket list plus plus plus achievement!!! I’m not sure I will be able to persuade J to do it again. But you never know! Kind regards. M

Light, agile and endlessly willing, the MGA is the purest sports car in the fleet and the most accessible way onto the start ramp. MGs raced the Targa Florio in period, and on the narrow, twisting roads of the Madonie the little MG is in its element: you will be working the gearbox, feeling every bend and grinning all the way to the coast.

Elegant, beautifully built and made for long days on mountain roads. The Mercedes-Benz SL of the sixties earned its Pagoda nickname from the gently dished roof of its hardtop, and with its automatic gearbox it remains one of the most refined and relaxing ways to cover the Targa Florio's roads. Mercedes-Benz won here in 1955 with Stirling Moss and Peter Collins, so you will be in good company.

When the E-Type was unveiled in 1961 it stopped the motoring world in its tracks, and the fixed-head coupé is the purest expression of that long, low shape. With its straight-six engine and snug cockpit, it is a proper grand tourer for two days of regularity trials, and a head-turner in every Sicilian village along the way.
