We have lined up a great collection of boutique hotels, authentic restaurants and private guided tours of the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Pagani factory and museum and the Lamborghini Museum.

Midway through the tour, we take to Lake Iseo aboard the icon of classic motor yachts, the Riva Aquarama and Aquariva. Used by the rich and famous of the sixties, they are now valued at a cool half a million pounds each. During the tour you will also have the opportunity to fulfil that childhood dream of driving a Ferrari through the streets of Maranello, with our inclusive 'Test Drive' experience! For those less excited by the classic cars there will be plenty of time for shopping or sightseeing in Modena, Parma and Brescia.

The Mille Miglia (Italian for Thousand Miles) was an open-road endurance race which took place in Italy twenty-four times from 1927 to 1957 and is one of the greatest classic car 'race' events in the world. Since its reintroduction back in 1977 it has been a five-day regularity race around Italy, starting and finishing in Brescia, taking in Rome and other historical Italian cities.

Like the older Targa Florio and later the Carrera Panamericana, the Mille Miglia made Gran Turismo (Grand Touring) sports cars like Alfa Romeo, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes Benz and Porsche famous. The race brought out an estimated five million spectators per year from 1953 until 1957 and was also a round of the World Sports Car Championship.

If you would like to know more about the event, this is an official review of the Mille Miglia.

After a hearty breakfast and relaxing morning at your leisure we visit a historic local vineyard, for a wine-tasting experience. The Bersi Serlini Domaine, with its origins tracing back to the Middle Ages, was initially established by the Cluny Monks. After 700 years under the Monks' stewardship, the property transitioned to private ownership in 1886 when it was acquired by the Bersi Serlini Family. Under the visionary guidance of Arturo, the son, the estate was expanded and meticulously restored and now produces approximately 200,000 bottles per year.

Mille Miglia Tour Reviews

Great Mille Miglia tour- our second Twynham’s event in as many years! Amazing contrasts all week: modern Ferraris mixed with pre-war racers ripping past the sidewalk cafés, crowds waving, flags flying. Plaza shop windows with the latest fashions reflecting the pastel colors of ancient buildings and cobblestone squares.     The food: famed prosciutto, finest cheeses, fresh-baked breads- and the wine.. Beautiful mountaintop farm lunch where balsamic is an art form. The outdoor dining– great weather, perfect street settings, and chances to chat with our group at day’s end. The lodging fit the activities; the modern waterfront hotel was a good match for our boat ride in the historic Riva classic lake cruisers. Very welcoming folks! And Parma’s grand hotel on the old town square was a comfortable base for the second half of our tour, complete with tolling church bells. The tours of the epic manufacturers- Ferrari displays from old to new, our first test drive with our enthusiastic instructor: 'Go!-Go!-Go!' He didn’t have to ask twice. We’re now checking Ferrari California prices- thanks, Matt...Lamborghini’s beautiful showroom displayed the height of supercar style from the ‘60’s to today. Pagani’s ultra-futuristic designs combined with old school by-hand assembly; one car, one craftsman at a time- another delightful contrast.
And always back to the Mille Miglia cars running through city streets close enough to touch- just ask the busy café waiters carrying orders across the town squares. From the old photos at the delightful Nuvolari Museum, it’s always been that way. Our group, intercepting the race at strategic points got to compare the early days’ exuberance of the racers and passengers with their days-later determination to make it to the finish- (are we there yet?) but still smiling all the way. Us too! A hat tip to our coach drivers – comfortable rides, well-driven, and reliable every day. And thanks again to you and to Laurence, who did a great job as guide as well as being a fellow race fan.  What more can we say, Matt- great trip, highly recommended!

Matthew, C and I just want to thank you for our wonderful experiences on the tour last week. The whole week was fantastic and we will be dining out on it for a long time! We couldn’t pick out one visit or experience as the best as we loved them all. We really enjoyed the surprises like the Riva trip, the dinner at the farm (like no other Farm I know) and the views we had of the actual Mille Miglia exceeded all our expectations. I know you are proud of your team and rightly so as they were all excellent, they were helpful, friendly and professional, although we do have a soft spot for Tim and Lawrence as they really looked after us on bus 2! It was fantastic to meet fellow travellers from different countries and to make some lovely new friends. So thank you so much to you and the team for making our trip one that we will never forget.

Thank you for your wonderful tour of the Mille. The hotels were the best in location and accommodations, your schedule of events was wonderfully planned and perfectly executed and you and your staff could not have been more accommodating and fun to be around. You’ve taken on a challenging profession – making guests bucket lists come alive and fulfilled – and you did that wonderfully for me on this Mille tour. You’re a perfectionist and it shows. Thank you for doing what you do and doing it so well.
